Project Overview
This project was a social media animation series for NOMO, an app designed to help users spend less time scrolling and build better relationships with social media without banning apps. The goal was to create short, attention-grabbing posts that encouraged real-life engagement.
The campaign needed to be relatable, humorous, and visually dynamic, connecting directly with a young, college-aged audience while reinforcing NOMO’s mission.
NOMO's art direction embraces the energy of real-life connections by showcasing vibrant social moments, embracing imperfections and unpolished details, celebrating the weird and wonderful.
Process & Collaboration
I worked with live-action footage filmed on university campuses (primarily UCLA), featuring students interacting naturally, with one or two performers in NOMO’s Thumb mascot costume.
Collaboration included the marketing team providing taglines and campaign objectives. I handled all animation, editing, and visual storytelling for the series.
Motion & Visual Storytelling
The animations had to integrate seamlessly with live-action footage, requiring careful timing, masking, and compositing. Each video was unique in text, pacing, and animated interventions, but together they maintained a cohesive series aesthetic that reinforced the NOMO brand.
My Role
Outcome
The series produced five distinct social media videos, collectively forming a cohesive campaign that engaged the target audience, drove awareness for NOMO, and demonstrated the creative potential of combining live-action and animated elements.
